Installing Zimbra Desktop (For mac) and adding an email account

In this example, we'll download the Mac version (Mac OS X 10.7+ (Requires Java 1.7+).

1- Download Zimbra Desktop Installer.

2- Install it by right-clicking on the "Zimbra Desktop Installer" icon.

3- Accept the Terms of Service.

4- Proceed to Add a New account and select:

  • Account Type: Microsoft Exchange or IMAP.
  • Account Name: Enter a name that will help you identify this account.
  • Your Full Name: Enter the name you'd like others to see associated with your email address.
  • Email address: Enter your full email address: username@domain.

Under Receiving Mail

  • User Name: Enter your full email address: username@domain.
  • Password: the password assigned to this email account.
  • Incoming server: Zimbra Server Name (zmailxx.his.com)
  • Security: TLS or SSL.

Under Sending Mail

  • SMTP server: Zimbra Server Name (zmailxx.his.com).
  • Port: change the default value: 25 to 587 or 465.
  • Security: Unchecked.
  • Authentication: Check "Username and Password required to send mail" and Re-enter
  • User Name: Enter your full email address: username@domain.
  • Password: the password assigned to this email account

  • Reply-To: enter the email address and name you want to receive replies to IF DIFFERENT from the one you entered in the first part. For example if you prefer using one of your email accounts email aliases.

  • Click on "Validate and Save".

  • Zimbra will let you know if the account has successfully be created.

  • Click "Launch Desktop" and start using your email account.

You can now safely Eject the Zimbra Desktop Installer from your Mac.
