Enabling Secure Connections in Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 reached its end of life in 2017, so we do not support it anymore.
This article is for legacy purpose.

1- On your computer, click the Start Menu and select Control Panel.

2- If using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or above, type Mail into the search box to find Mail. Then, double-click it.
If using Windows XP, double-click the Mail icon.

3- Click on E-mail Accounts.

4- Select the HIS-hosted account that you have already set up and click on Change.

5- Click on More Settings.

6- In the new window, click on Outgoing Server tab at the top.

7- Check the box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and ensure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.

8- Click on the Advanced tab to configure additional settings for Incoming Server:
For Incoming server port:
If you use IMAP: Enter port 993
If you use POP: Enter port 995

Ensure that SSL is chosen from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down box.

9- From the drop-down box next to Use the following type of encrypted connection and enter 587 with STARTTLS as the Outgoing server (SMTP) port. You could also use the older port 465 with SSL

10- Click OK to save your settings.
