Solving email issues after Plesk11/Postfix upgrade
We upgraded the server hosting your email Monday night July 17, 2012.
The security has been increased and you will need to make some changes to your email settings in order to be able to receive or send mail.
If you are having trouble checking your mail, and are prompted for a password:
The account password was not changed, but with the improved security, they don't accept email login with short usernames like "john".
Check your email accounts settings, and
-
change the username for incoming (POP/IMAP) or outgoing (SMTP) to be the whole email address of your mailbox,
like john@domain.com. -
make sure the username is inlowercase.
If you are having trouble sending mail:
-
try using SMTP (outgoing) port 587 (with TLS for security if possible), or SSL on port 465
-
use SMTP authentication with same settings as for the incoming server.
That should solve the problem.
If you are using an old email software (more than 5 years old), it may not have the option to support TLS.
Consider upgrading, or using another email client like the free Mozilla Thunderbird.
We apologize for the disruption this has caused in your email service.
