Setting Up Thunderbird to connect to a Plesk account

HIS Server Settings

You will need to know: - Your email address - Your email password - The name of the server hosting your domain, for this example we will use psaXXX.his.com.
  • Incoming Server Name: psaXXX.his.com(IMAP port 143)
  • Outgoing Server Name: psaXXX.his.com (SMTP port 587 with Security:STARTTLS)or: SMTP port 465 with Security: SSL
  • Authentication Method: Normal Password.

First Time Set Up

  1. Launch Thunderbird.
  2. If you have never used Thunderbird before, the Account Wizard should start on it's own.
    To open it manually, go to the Tools menu, choose Accounts Actions, and click Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter the following on the Mail Account Setup window:
    • Your name: enter your full name.
    • Email address: enter your email address.
    • Password: enter your email password.
    • Check the Remember Password check box.
  4. Click on the Continue button.
  5. Click on the Manual config button.
  6. Enter the following:
    • Incoming: IMAP
    • Incoming Server hostname: psaXXX.his.com
    • Outgoing Server hostname: psaXXX.his.com + Authentication Method: Normal Password
    • Username: enter your HIS username: user@domain.xxx
    • SSL: For both Incoming and Outgoing, change AutoDetect to SSL/TLS.
  7. Click on the Re-test button.
  8. If errors were detected, correct the errors and then click on the Re-test button again. *
    If no errors were detected, click on the Create Account button.
  9. Click on the OK button.
  10. Click on the Get Mail button to retrieve your email messages.
  11. Right-click on the account in the left window pane that you just created. Click on the Subscribe button.
  12. Select all of the mailbox folder that you would like to subscribe to.
  13. Click on the OK button.
