Zimbra 10 Connector for Outlook (ZCO) Installation steps

The Zimbra Connector for Outlook (ZCO) provides real time, two-way synchronization of email messages, folders, tags, address books, tasks, and calendaring

With the new Zimbra 10, if you were already using Outlook for Windows with Zimbra Outlook Connector (ZCO), you will have to download and install the Zimbra 10 version of the Outlook Connector.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Zimbra Connector for Outlook is not currently compatible with the NEW Outlook version. To use the Zimbra Connector for Outlook you must revert your Outlook to the Classic/legacy version.

Prior to the installation:

  • Have your full email address and current password ready.
  • Verify the password by successfully login to HIS webmail.

1- Zimbra 10 ZCO Installation steps

  • Close Outlook: Make sure all instances of Outlook are completely closed before starting the installation.
    In Legacy Outlook: Go to File then Exit

  • Download the installer: Download the correct ZCO installer for your version of Windows and Office (32-bit or 64-bit) from https://www.zimbra.com/product/addons/zimbra-connector-for-outlook-download/. 1949 is the current version.

  • Run the installer: Double-click the downloaded file to launch the Zimbra Connector for Outlook Setup Wizard.

  • Follow the wizard:

    • Click Next to proceed through the setup.
    • Agree to the terms by selecting "I accept the terms in the License Agreement".
    • Click Next to confirm and begin the installation.
    • Complete the installation: ZCO will display a progress bar.
    • Once the progress bar indicates the installation is complete, click Close to exit the wizard.

2- Configuration steps

After the ZCO is installed, configure your account with the HIS zimbra server settings and your account credentials.

  • Open Microsoft Outlook.

  • Enter your email account details: The Zimbra Server Configuration Settings dialog box should appear automatically.

  • Fill in the details: Enter your server information, email address, and password. You can adjust additional settings if necessary.

    • HIS zimbra servername: securemail.his.com.
    • Email Address: Your full HIS-histed email address.
    • Password: the current password for your account.

  • After entering the configuration settings, click Apply to validate your credentials with the server.

  • To complete the process and start synchronization: Click OK.
    Outlook will begin pulling your data from the server, which may take some time depending on your mailbox' size and number of folders.

  • If this takes a long time, be patient and let Outlook do its thing: Leave Outlook open on your computer until it is finished synching and use HIS webmail to check your email in the meantime.

Tips:

  • If you do not want to see the Send/Receive dialog each time you sync, click the checkbox that states "Don't show this dialog box during Send/Receive," which is directly below the progress bar.
  • If the sync fails to start automatically, press F9 to start the synchronization manually.

Note: When you initially install and run the ZCO, a new Outlook profile named Zimbra is automatically created.
Your previous account data (emails, contacts and calendar events) will be on a different profile. The data must migrate from the old profile to the new profile via import/export within Outlook.
