Making a backup of your web site from the Plesk Panel
We recommend making and scheduling backups during non-business hours, especially for large web sites.
By default backups will be stored on the local repository on the server.
You can also use a remote storage like an external FTP server or a DropBox account to backup to.
Here is how to make a backup of your web site from the Plesk Panel:
In the collapsible menu on the top right:
- Click on Backup & Restore
Either click on Back Up to create a new backup NOW,
or click on Schedule to schedule automatic backups.
Check the option: Backup
-- User files and Databases
Store-In: Leave to the default
Type: Change to Full
Check: Exclude log files
Enter your email address if you want to receive a notification once the backup task is completed.
Those backups will include all your web site files and databases.
If you don't mind your web site being offline for a the time of the backup: Check "Suspend the domain until the backup task is completed".
Click OK to proceed with the Backup.
Wait until the backup shows as complete.
It may take several minutes depending of the size of your web site.
Once the Backup is done, you will see it in the backups listing.
Note: The disk space used by the backups stored in the local repository counts toward your hosting account's disk quota, so make sure you'll have enough space in your hosting account.
You can check that from the Plesk Panel Statistics tab.
